Oskar Schindler with his father, Hans. Svitavy, Czechoslovakia.
Oskar Schindler was a German industrialist born on April 28, 1908, in an industrial town by the name of Svitavy. His mother, Louisa, was a homemaker, whom he had a close relationship with. Oskar and his sister, Elfriede, attended a German-language school where he was popular, though not an amazing student.Growing up with his sister, their relationship grew close as the years passed. Forgoing the opportunity to attend college after finishing school, he went to trade school instead and ended up taking courses in several areas.
He eventually left school in 1924, taking odd jobs where he could find them while seeking out what he wanted to do with his life. 4 years later he had met and married a women by the name of Emilie Pelzl, however on the day of their marriage the local police found out he was already married. He had been found out to have been living with an older woman for 3 years prior, hurting Emilie but not putting her off enough to not marry him. This is where the assumption that Oskar was a womanizer came from. Soon after this disaster, he was called into military service and afterward worked for his father's company. Although, this was not long lasting as the business eventually failed due to the economic depression of the 1930's. When Oskar is was not working or at home, he would frequent a drink and seeking out affection from other women, a skill he would use throughout most of his life.
